Begun as a journal to keep track of appointments and treatments, this book describes what to expect from surgery, chemotherapy and radiation from a survivor's point of view. It also raises questions that aren't answered in medical books, such as: How do you tell your three grown sons that their mother has cancer? How do you decide in whom to confide and how much to confide about your disease? How do you deal with depression when everyone assumes your must be happy now that your treatment is over?
By exploring these questions, the author embarks on a journey of self-awareness that leads to physical, emotional and spiritual wellness. Cancer is a life-altering experience, but it it can be a life-affirming one as well, for even if we cannot be cured, with God's help, we can be healed.

So you have been diagnosed with cancer. You feel, rightly, that this is going to change your life. It may surprise you that this change can be for the better. But first, let's look at what cancer can't do.

What Cancer Cannot Do

Cancer is so limited ...
     It cannot cripple love,
     It cannot shatter hope,
     It cannot corrode faith,
It cannot eat away at peace,
     It cannot destroy confidence,
     It cannot kill friendship,
     It cannot shut out memories,
     It cannot invade the soul,
     it cannot reduce eternal life,
     It cannot quench the spirit,
     It cannot lessen the power
     of the resurrection.
