Directions for Jiffy Chemo Cap
Use chenille yarn and 10" double-pointed needles. (To make needles, get a quarter-inch dowel and cut into four even pieces. Sharpen each end in a standard pencil sharpener and sand smooth.)
Cast on 55 stitches and knit 1 purl 1 for three rows for band.
Knit evenly around until piece measures four inches.
Next row: k 9, k 2 together; Row 2: knit; Row 3: k 8, k 2 together; Row 4: knit; Row 5: k 7, k 2 together; Row 6: knit; Row 7: k 6, k 2 together; Row 8: knit; Row 9: k 5, k 2 together; Row 10: knit; Row 11: k 4, k 2 together;
Row 12: knit; Row 13: k 3, k 2 together; Row 14: knit: Row 15: k 2, k 2 together; Row 16: k 1 k 2 together; Row 17: k 2 together.
Cut yarn and loop over neighboring stitch, then weave through stitches to hide (do not tie a knot as this irritates sensitive skin).
To add brim, do not begin with ribbing.
BRIM: With right side facing, pick up 55 stitches along the bottom.
Row 1:knit; Row 2: knit 3, increase 1 stitch in next stitch (knit into front and back of stitch); Rows 3 & 4: knit; Row 5: knit 4, increase 1 stitch in next stitch; Rows 6 & 7; knit; Row 8: purl; Row 9: knit: Row 10: purl; bind off.
