Cancer Can't Lodging Facility on the Horizon

• Written by: Cancer Can't

Cancer Can't is proud to announce major progress on a dream that’s been years in the making: A self-sustaining lodging facility for cancer patients traveling to Spokane for treatment. Designed to offer 20 private units, this facility will provide comfort, stability, and community to individuals and families facing one of life’s most difficult battles.

The journey began in 2023, when Cancer Can't partnered with SRM Development to launch a comprehensive feasibility study. That momentum led to the purchase of four parcels of land in the Kendall Yards area—an ideal, central location near Spokane’s major treatment centers.

Thanks to an outpouring of public and private support, we’ve now secured $4.8 million in funding, including awards from both federal and state sources. We’re proud to say the project is now 80% funded—and we’re getting very close to reaching our goal.

With partners at SOK Design Studio and Bouten Construction, our team is preparing to submit for permitting by August 2025. We’re being strategic with timing: Once construction begins, raising the final dollars becomes more difficult.

Our goal? To break ground this fall or early spring of 2026.

This facility is more than a building—it’s a symbol of what’s possible when compassion turns into action. With continued support, we’re one step closer to offering cancer patients and their families a place to rest, recover, and heal.

We’re 80% of the way there — and you can help us cross the finish line.
Every gift brings us closer to breaking ground. Whether it’s $25 or $2,500, your support directly helps fund a home-away-from-home for adults fighting cancer.

Impact local cancer patients today.
